Sally Davies' Happy Meal Art Project

The talk in our house tonight is surronding an article we read about Sally Davies' Happy Meal Art Project. We were utterly flabbergasted by her photographs, but not really surprised by them! We don't want to spoil all of the fun, so we'll just share the link. Make sure to read the comments at the bottom!

So, what are your thoughts on her project?

On a related note...I'm sure many of you have seen the pictures of the processed McDonald's Chicken Nuggets floating around Facebook, so we decided to post a link to that article here as well.

These are just two of the many reasons why we decided to shift to simple, clean eating!

  1. Ok get it. Hope you realize that you are doing a service. The pics that Sally Davies provided show how wrong it is to eat fast food. You could tell how old the food was until at least 100 days into her project. I also think this would be a good tool to educate children who get tempted to eat at places like McDonalds and let them know how unhealthy this stuff is. Some times a toy is not worth it.

  2. We agree with you Ben! Education is the key to overcoming our addiction to fast-food. Most people don't realize that the majority of this food has been so overly processed that it is stripped of almost any nutritional value whatsoever. A burger isn't just a burger anymore! Mixed in with the meat are binders to bulk it up, as well as extenders to make it last longer. (Oh, and up to 30% of extra fat can be added as well!) The only people that benefit from these being added are the companies manufacturing and producing the meat because if they can make more of it, and make it last longer, they make more money! When Jason and I switched over to free-range, grass-fed beef we quickly realized that we had never tasted real meat before...and man is it good! Not only did it taste better, our bodies actually appreciated it. No more stomach aches after eating! And we felt fuller faster and stayed fuller longer. I know that many people will argue that the cost of these meats are excessive, but I promise that if you try it you won't go back.
